Where Brunswick starts and stops
Brunswick is the first part of Gary you reach coming in from the west. I-90 runs along the north side, with the Gary/Chicago International Airport just beyond it. Chase Street is the east edge. The Norfolk Southern tracks close the south side, and across them is Westside. Cline Avenue, State Road 912, is the west edge.
You can see the neighborhood from the tollway, and plenty of people know it for Tri-City Plaza, the shopping center on West 5th Avenue (U.S. 20) at Clark Road. The South Shore Line also stops on Clark Road, inside Brunswick.
Roads we use for Brunswick pickups
- West 5th Avenue (U.S. 20) is the main east-west street and the easiest to describe: "off 5th near Clark" tells a driver a lot.
- Clark Road runs north and south through the middle, past the train stop and Brunswick Park.
- 4th Avenue carries truck traffic between the industrial land on both sides of the neighborhood.
- Cline Avenue is the expressway on the west edge, with an interchange at Michigan Street and 5th Avenue.
Pickup notes for Brunswick streets
Brunswick is mostly single-family houses, with industrial land on the west and east sides. That mix shapes a pickup:
- Side streets are easier than corridors. A car on a residential street off 5th Avenue is simpler to load than one on 4th Avenue or near Cline, where trucks move all day.
- Lots need permission. If the car sits on a business lot or a shared lot, tell us who controls it and whether there's a gate.
- Tell us about the car's condition. Flat tires, a locked steering wheel or missing wheels all change how the car gets loaded. None of it stops a sale.
Near Brunswick Park and Edison Park the streets are residential, and a car in a driveway or at the curb there is a straightforward tow.
Next door
Brunswick meets Westside and Tolleston at the tracks. Everything south of the Norfolk Southern line is on those pages, and Black Oak is farther south again. The West Gary blocks page puts all four side by side.
Cars that come back from a theft often show up with damage or missing parts. If that's what happened to yours, our note on recovered stolen cars covers the Indiana steps before you sell.
